Our members say they enjoy coming to SYMO, for all sorts of reasons: they enjoy learning new skills, such as acting, camera operation, sound recording and music, they love coming to meet their friends, some of whom they only see at SYMO, they get a real buzz from winning awards and being in the local press and radio on a regular basis, and, they say, the staff are great! Whatever the reason, the groups have continued to grow since 2007, with people arriving for taster sessions and deciding to stay with us for good! A typical day could see a small group working on Inside SYMO, our in-house newsletter, with Steve, another group recording vocals with Del, and another with Karen writing poems to their loved ones for Valentine's Day. Sometimes we watch movies on the big screen, sometimes we have competitions on Wii Fit.

Or the whole day could be dedicated to filming, which requires patience and concentration - something our group members have learned to respect over the years.

Their commitment and talent is rewarded each year at the SYMO Awards Night, where we give our own awards for different categories, including Best Actor, Best Camera and Best Team Player. These are hugely popular events attended by all the families and friends of our members. They seem to get bigger every year!
